Important Information

We have been providing beautiful floors and stairs for many years.

Contact us about the possibilities.

  • Make sure the substrate is clean and grease-free.
  • Laying a gravel floor requires a minimum temperature of 18 degrees celcius.
  • The subfloor should be dry, with no leaking taps or radiators anywhere.
  • Nothing should protrude from the subfloor.
  • Holes around heating pipes or other openings should be sealed in advance.
  • Pets are the biggest danger, keep them away from the floor.
  • If you have underfloor heating, it should be turned off one day before sealing.
  • If you get the stair treads made, make sure the staircase is painted beforehand and keep some paint, so that after laying the staircase you can always touch up any spots where epoxy has come across, this is not inevitable.
  • For skirting boards, the same applies as the stairs, paint beforehand and save paint afterwards so you can touch up any sealing or epoxy touches yourself.

We give a 5-year warranty on our sealed floors and a 2-year warranty on the unsealed ones.

Maintaining a Siergrind Limburg floor requires little effort. All gravel laid indoors is sealed as standard. This is optional for gravel in other areas. If you choose not to seal these areas, we recommend good vacuuming about twice a week. This will suck all the dust and loose dirt out of the pores.

The sealed surfaces can also be vacuumed and mopped. Because of the sealing, less dust and loose dirt gets into the pores. As a result, substances often stay on the surface better and are not immediately absorbed by the floor in case of quick action.

In the unlikely event of a stain, we recommend treating it with our Proficlean all-in-one floor cleaner. We recommend first wiping the stain with an absorbent cloth, mixing our Proficlean All in 1 Floor Cleaner with some water and scrubbing the spot with a hard brush. Sometimes a scouring sponge is sufficient. Then wipe the spot with a damp cloth and your floor will be just as you are used to from Siergrind Limburg.

To make it even easier for you, this Proficlean All in 1 Floor Cleaner can now be ordered via this website.

• OPEN OR CLOSED STRUCTURE
By nature, gravel flooring has an open structure, which is the best design in almost all cases and can be used in almost all dry rooms. However, certain considerations may come into play, to fill the space between the pebbles. For instance, it is advisable to treat areas such as kitchens and bathrooms with a pore filler. Even when choosing a grain of 1-2mm or finer, it is absolutely necessary to seal the quartz carpet floor!

• WEEKLY MAINTENACE
The maintenance of a quartz carpet floor with an open structure can best be compared to that of wall-to-wall carpet, i.e. vacuuming at least once a week (possibly several times depending on the dirt). It is not necessary to clean with soap and water every time, as the dirt is very easily removed with a good hoover. However, it is possible to freshen up the gravel floor with a damp mop.

• THOROUGH CLEANING

If the floor does need a thorough cleaning after a certain time, you can clean it with a carpet cleaner (type Nilfisk CA340). These machines are capable of recovering 90% of the impregnated water, so the floor will be dry again quickly.

However, we do not recommend cleaning the floor with an ordinary water vacuum cleaner, as it only sucks up 40-60% of the water back from the floor. This means the rest has to evaporate and, depending on the temperature, it may take a long time before you can use the floor again.

• PARTIAL CLEANING
For local soiling caused by spills of liquids and/or pasty products, it is best to clean immediately with warm water and brush/sponge. Immediately after treatment, suck up the dirty water with a water vacuum cleaner and again rinse locally with clean water and suck up again.

• RUBBER MATS

Rubber mats (especially soft rubber) can cause a problem if they contain too many plasticisers, the floor may become discoloured. After laying a mat, check it weekly to see if any stains appear; if so, you should choose another brand of mat. This is only the case for mats with excessive plasticisers.

• TOILETS AND BATHROOMS
We strongly advise against a gravel floor in a toilet or bathroom, because chlorine, urine, etc. can damage the floor over the years and cause stains, and high humidity also causes stains.

Decorative, seamless, low-maintenance, hard-wearing and extremely strong; these are just some of the special properties of a quartz carpet floor.

A quartz carpet floor, also known as gravel carpet, is a floor finish composed of countless coloured quartz stones that are bound together in an epoxy resin. Colour, grain composition and finish can be optimally tailored to your taste and usage requirements. A quartz carpet floor fits any interior, whether private or business, modern or classic. Its great success is mainly due to the warm look of carpet combined with the wear-resistance of a hard floor finish. If desired, the structure can be sealed with a fully transparent sealing compound. The system can therefore also be used in situations where a closed floor finish is desired.

All kinds of decorative applications are possible, such as logos and decorative borders. A quartz carpet floor feels warm because the air between the gravel has good thermal conductivity. This makes a quartz carpet floor extremely suitable for use over underfloor heating. No other decorative floor has such a wide range of uses!

A quartz carpet floor is very easy to maintain. Most stains can be removed with a little lukewarm water and a brush. In addition, regular vacuuming is sufficient to keep your quartz carpet floor sparkling clean. We recommend an annual major floor cleaning. You can do this yourself using a brush, plenty of water and a hoover.

Lacquering is very important for sealed floors. The pores created in the sealing during drying and evaporation of the solvents form a collection point for dirt. For marble stone floors and floors with larger grain thickness, sealing is not recommended as it gives a plastic appearance that does not make the floor more beautiful, the large gaps in marble and coarser gravel are also easier to clean as the dirt is easier to suck up. An unsealed floor also has the added benefit of providing relief for people with asthma and other respiratory or allergic conditions because dust stays between the openings and does not blow up, it can then be easily removed with a hoover.
